The short version: the extension does not collect, send, sell or share your data. Everything it handles stays in your own browser.
Dealer Marketplace Assist is a Chrome extension published by Elevated Ideas LLC, 11 Nob Hill Dr, Jacksonville, IL 62650 (“we”, “us”). It helps car and trailer dealers who use an Elevated Ideas dealer website fill a Facebook Marketplace vehicle listing from their own inventory.
The extension only works on dealer websites you turn on yourself with “Enable on this site”. Chrome asks for your permission first. On those sites it only responds to dealer app pages that announce support for it and ignores every other page.
When you click “Fill Marketplace listing” for a vehicle, the dealer app hands the extension that one vehicle’s listing details: year, make, model, trim, price, mileage, colors, body style, fuel, transmission, condition, title status, stock number, VIN if the dealer entered one, the listing description, the lot city and state, and the web addresses of the vehicle’s photos. The extension then downloads those photos from the same dealer site.
Dealer websites without the dealer app (version 1.1.0 and later): when you click the extension icon on one vehicle’s page, the extension reads that vehicle from the page itself: the same kinds of details as above, the dealership’s name, city and phone number shown on the page, and the page’s address. When you click “Fill Marketplace listing”, it downloads the vehicle’s photos from the site, or from the separate image server the site keeps its photos on, if you allowed that server in the same Chrome prompt. It keeps the list of those image servers with your enabled sites, in your browser only.
On www.facebook.com/marketplace pages, the extension types those details into the vehicle listing form in your open tab and adds the photos. After you publish, it reads the web address of the new listing page so it can offer to send that link back to your dealer app. It does not read your messages, friends, profile, posts or any other Facebook page, and it never clicks Next, Publish or any other submit button. You review and publish the listing yourself.
When you click the extension icon, Chrome lets it look at the page in the current tab (Chrome calls this “activeTab”). It uses that only to tell whether the page is a dealer app, so it can offer “Enable on this site”.
Since version 1.1.0 it also uses that click to read the vehicle on a dealer vehicle page, as described above, so it can show you what it read before you fill anything.
Everything is stored locally in your browser with Chrome’s extension storage (chrome.storage). None of it leaves your computer, except that Chrome may sync your one setting between your own Chrome browsers if you use Chrome sync.
The use of information received by Dealer Marketplace Assist adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What you publish on Facebook is covered by Facebook’s own terms and privacy policy. The vehicle information in your dealer app is kept by your dealer website, not by this extension.
The extension is a business tool for vehicle dealers and is not directed to children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
